What Shoes

Am I wearing today? A co-worker of mine is fascinated, perhaps intrigued, or maybe just plain repulsed by my shoe collection. Yesterday he took a photo of my shoes, and I thought hey that could be fun to take photos of my shoes and post them. If anything maybe I will look back fondly or in horror of my choices.

So here goes...

Yesterday's shoes were bright red Dolce and Gabbana heels.

UM No Thanks

I love the ballet flat - super cute and looks great with skinny pants, capris, or skirts. I like the standard black, or even the cute metallic colors, but these Dolce & Gabbana Round Toe Flats take them too far - it's not really the color - it's the strange basket-weave pattern. Maybe they look much cuter actually on someone's foot.. or not... hard to tell. But from the photo, I'm not digging it.

Cute Patchwork Sandals

Loving these new Dolce and Gabbana Patchwork Sandals. Little bit on the pricey side ($895), but hey if you have that kind of money to spend... why not? They're pretty cute. Out of my price range for now.

Marimekko inspired Manolos

Manolo Blahnik's Spring/Summer 2008 Collection has some cute Mary Jane Slingbacks. Blahnik has used Marimekko’s patterns Bonbon and Mini-Unikko (which is the pattern shown) in his forthcoming collection.



I'm a little surprised the description of the shoes on Neiman's site doesn't mention that they are a Merimekko pattern?

Late last year Dolce and Gabbane produced a dress (and shoes) that looks almost exactly like this Marimekko pattern, but gave them no credit. Pretty strange. I don't know if anything happened about it - I haven't seen any updates on the web.

Dolce & Gabbana Knocks Off Marimekko Design?

A friend sent me a link to this blog The Glam Guide today.. pretty disturbing. Sure there are worse things in the world, but seems pretty shitty to steal another designer's work. Especially when Dolce & Gabbana knows what it's like to have their designs knocked off, why would they do this to someone else?

D&G Trunk Show

Ok so normally I like Dolce & Gabbana. But I was checking out the 2008 Trunk show at Neiman's and I don't get this outfit. Tye dye jeans? Fringed black jacket? brown belt and shoes.. with black?
